WHAT DOES A FAULT HAVE TO DO WITH IT!? Mt. San Jacinto and the San Andreas Fault About 30 million years ago something happened that changed everything, Quite literally for all of us! Join Joe Migliore for one hour illustrated presentation describing the geologic events which created Mt. San jacinto and changed the entire western edge of the North American Continent. Following the presentation we will embark on walking tour from Grub's view to the Desert view trail to observe telltale geologic features revealing the geologic history of the San Andreas Fault and it's role in the creation of the surrounding landscape and Mt. San Jacinto. DETAILS Notice: The date for this event had to be changed from October 22 to Sunday October 23 due to the Palm Springs Aerial Tram Road Challenge. President of the Mountain San Jacinto Natural History Association and Director of the Anza-Borrego Natural History Association. Lecturer.Date and Time: September 9, 9:00 a.m. ( See Getting in Touch With Nature at the MSJNHA.ORG for instructions on Tram ticketing and arriving at this event on time)Meet at: The State Park Visitor Center on the 1st floor of the Mountain Station 1 floor down from the 2nd floor tram terminal. The presentation will be held in the theater next to the State Park Visitor Center on the first floor.Walk rating: East to moderate Distance and time: about 2 miles total and 2 hours. Bring at least a liter of water and possibly a snackCost: tram ticket $28.95 ( tram pass or 20% NHA membership discount).REQUIREMENTS Each individual must register on line in advance to participate Take the 8 am tram car to arrive at the meeting location on time. ( See Getting in Touch With Nature at the MSJNHA.ORG for instructions on Tram ticketing and arriving at your event on time ) Each participant bring water (We recommend a minimum 1 liter of water per person) trail snacks. Anyone under the age of 18 (minimum age 14) must be accompanied by a legal guardian Appropriate attire for anticipated weather conditions on the mountain, sturdy shoes, hat, sunglasses. sunscreen. Consider a trekking pole for some uneven rocky trail.
