June is a month of celebration as we observe National Homeownership Month in the US. This is an opportunity for us to highlight the advantages of homeownership and pledge to create more opportunities for those who want to own their own homes. The Realtor® community remains committed to making the American dream of homeownership a reality for everyone, as it remains the key to economic stability and generational wealth building. According to the National Association of Realtors®, homeownership contributes significantly to financial security, as evidenced by the fact that the typical homeowner's net worth is almost 40 times that of a non-homeowner. Over the past decade, the value of owner-occupied housing has increased by $8.2 trillion, and there has been a significant rise in the number of middle-income homeowners by close to a million. Owning a home provides the opportunity to accumulate wealth, with the typical homeowner having generated over $200k in housing wealth through price appreciation. While there is currently a shortage of homes available for purchase, we remain optimistic and committed to finding innovative ways to increase access to the residential real estate market for everyone. In Solano County, we live in the Crossroads to some of the most fertile and beautiful lands in California. We are the most affordable county in the Bay Area. Regionally, we have world class cities, crisp mountain air, breathtaking lakes and rivers, unrivaled eateries, wineries and breweries, rugged north coast ocean beaches, and rural farm to table eatery experiences. Our diverse communities have an Air Force mobility hub for the pacific region, professional trade persons, a wide assortment of businesses, tech companies, entrepreneurial startups, innovative farmers, bio-tech firms, and everything in between.
