Description

Join us for a natural history tour of the Tregaron Conservancy with geologist Joe Marx. With its deep ravines, stone features, and old woods, Tregaron is a veritable showcase of geologic and ecologic features and processes. They include outcrops of some of Washington's oldest rocks, unusually large crystals, an ancient channel of the Potomac River, and the architectural use of native building stone. Joe has taught geology at local colleges for 18 years and regularly leads tours for the Tregaron Conservancy and ANS. This leisurely hike will showcase a wide variety of natural features and will allow time for questions and discussion. Dogs are not permitted. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Weather Policy: We will go ahead in light rain but will cancel in steady, heavy rain or a serious threat of thunderstorms. ***Please consider making a gift today to support the Tregaron Conservancy by visiting https://tregaron.org/donate. We rely solely on private donations for everything we do! Any amount is very much appreciate.
