Description
Gongster's Paradise is the ONLY Kulintang Festival in North America featuring artists from all over the world. A collective of Gongsters (kulintang and indigenous music practitioners) who have build their body of work around embracing indigenous instrumentation, gathers to build community and be one with community. The festival aims to show different practices rooted from the ripples ignited by Master Artist Danny Kalanduyan who has established a community of kulintang practitioners. Danny's establishment of the music in North America has created generations of practitioners who are guided by his instruction and has embraced Pilipino Indigenous music into their body of work presented in different genres including hip-hop, rock, jazz, R&B, electronic dance music and many more. This year's theme is A kulintang force for all as we present kulintang as a guiding force across many genres of arts both in traditional Pilipino practices and diasporic practices. This same force build our resilience in different communities we belong. Back to its in-person production, we are excited to feature new artists along with traditionalists in the 4-hour long festival of music, dance and food!
