Welcome to the 2023 UTL Season 12 Spring Open, fueled by Dymatize. The Underwater Torpedo League (UTL) is an underwater sport developed by Marine Special Forces Water Survival Instructors. Started in the military as a training tool, UTL has grown into a competitive sport with a primary goal of teaching people water confidence, safety and fun. Athletes of all different skill levels have come through our training since we began, individuals ranging from non-swimmers to Olympic athletes. This weekend we have a total of (8) teams competing in (2) leagues, The PRO League and the ROOKIE League. The PRO League has (4) returning teams with the previous champions the Irvine Krakens, the Newport Guppies, the San Diego Poseidons, and the Los Angeles Sharks. The ROOKIE League has (4) new teams that are joining the league from the Los Alamitos Tridents, the San Diego Marine Corps Drill Instructors Team WADI, the La Jolla Poseidons, and the Central Texas Salamanders. The teams will play on Saturday and Sunday morning for their seed position in a elimination tournament on Sunday May 7th from 1:00 - 7:00pm for the championship titles at the Irvine William Woollett Jr Aquatic Center.
