The bond between veterans is not just the results of similar career, training, or combat experience – these bonds are also cemented in the fact that each pledged their life for their country. As veterans, many of us deal with emotional tolls from our service. We may withdraw from mainstream society, removing ourselves from our community. This is where things can get extremely dangerous. Chronic isolation can lead to depression, substance abuse, and many other issues. Our responsibility as veterans is to be there for our fellow veterans, providing a community that supports them and keeps them connected.
