May is the time of year to start planting some of our favorite heat loving crops like tomatoes, peppers, eggplant and more. Knowing a few tricks and tips can really make a huge difference in the productivity of these veggies. We will cover the following:
• The right spot for your summer veggies
• Planting tomatoes, peppers, eggplant and more
• Fertility management for these crops
• Training and trellising
• Disease management practices
The registration fee is on a sliding scale with suggested donation of $5-$50. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.
All proceeds from this workshop will be donated to Our Village Gardens a non-profit in North Portland.
Village Gardens makes it possible for people living in Oregon's largest affordable housing neighborhoods to grow their own food, gain employment through locally created food projects and have access to a community-run grocery store. Village Gardens' staff work alongside Community Leaders to create new initiatives that promote both economic and food resilience.
