Description

Hi, I’m Modern Biology and welcome to my Field Trip! This earth day, I’ll be doing a series of intimate pop-up plant and mushroom music shows in public parks. We’re starting in Canada and making our way to California. These events will combine foraging, park cleanup, and a live deep listening experience. We’ll be using proceeds from each show to support local environmental charities. Here’s what to expect at this 2 hour experience: On arrival you’ll be given a set of wireless headphones. You’ll be asked for a piece of ID that will be returned to you on return of the headphones at the end of the event. To help shift your state of being, wherever you may be coming from on that day, I’ll be creating ambient, dreamy soundscapes made with the bioelectricity of the flora and fungi we find in the park! This is literally my favorite thing to do, and I can’t wait to share it with you. Please note that I want to create a space for you to drop into the sights, sounds, and smells around you during the listening period of this experience. I recommend saving conversations, questions, and curiosities for the end of the show where I will have dedicated time for talking more about the music, getting interactive, and more! Time: 4 pm - 6 pm 15 minutes: Check in, settle in, get your headphones 15 minutes: land acknowledgement + short naturalist talk followed by time for a short nature walk + forage around the park 60 minutes: a live deep listening musical and meditative experience made with local flora and fungi 30 minutes: Q+A and a short park cleanup Location: We’ll be announcing the exact locations of each experiences as the dates draw nearer. The location is in East LA, Pasadena area. This event is all ages. Kids are welcome. This event is rain or shine! I love working outside in all sorts of weather. What to bring: curiosity! and a sense of adventurerain or sun protection (depending on the weather)a blanket or chair to relax onsnacks if you like!water for hydration! In partnership with Floating Floating is a weekly all-ages outdoors arts series that explores the harmony between soundscape and landscape. As a collective, their programs nourish symbiotic relationships among kindred artists, environmental organizations, and unique land projects with the goal of inspiring deeper interdependence among our local communities, cultures, and environments. Tickets are non-refundable, but they are transferable using the Eventbrite website.
