Informational Workshop for Presenters participating in “The Exchange” at the Library Arts Center—powered by PechaKucha.Share your story in 20 slides, 20 seconds each.Participant Workshop: May 18th, 5:30-7:30pm*Storytelling Event: Fri. June 23rd, 6:00pmPechaKucha is a storytelling format that celebrates people, passion, and creative thought. This storytelling form connects presenters and audience members visually, concisely & memorably, in a way that builds community and honors the stories in us all.
In PechaKucha presentations community members share their stories in a series of 20 images they select which play in slideshows that advance automatically every 20 seconds while they tell their story in 400 seconds. This unique format creates a visual layer to storytelling and creates a simple and concise structure to the process.
PechaKucha was created in Japan in 2003 by renowned architects, Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham. The word “PechaKucha” is Japanese for “chit chat”.
As the Library Arts Center hosts its first ever event powered by PechaKucha, you are invited to join as a presenter on the evening’s theme: Growth. Participants are invited to a free workshop* in the gallery on May 18 at 5:30pm to learn more about creating their presentation. To register and see full details, visit libraryartscenter.org.
The community is invited to join us in the gallery for this evening of community storytelling, powered by PechaKucha, Friday June 23 at 6:00pm.
*Pre-registration is required for presenters.
The plan is to make this a regular piece of Arts Center programming, with different themes for each of these storytelling events.
