Description

Deductive Tasting ClassFirst Class Thursday, May 11, 6-7:30 pm at Wine RepublicWelcome to the first course in the Deep Dive Tasting classes. This intensive tasting offers the opportunity to understand wine at its core. This class is not for everyone. Tasting is the most important thing about wine. Yes, the history and the story and the dog in the vineyard all play a part but you gotta drink the wine. Deductive tasting or ‘blind tasting’ is how you identify wine by using nothing but your sight, smell, mouthfeel and taste. Your memory of these things will help you break down any wine: red, white, still, sparkling or sweet. The clues the wines give will eventually lead you to a specific country, region, varietal and vintage. Calibrating your palate is the main part which you will use the Nez de Vin, the World’s Ultimate Wine Education Tool. With this and the ‘grid’ from Court of Master Sommeliers, you will unlock what really makes wine tick and ultimately deduce what you’re actually drinking. And the more you know about wine the more you understand why you like certain varietals or regions vs ones you don’t. You will deduce 4 ‘popular’ wines: 2 whites and 2 reds. This class will specifically dial you in for the next three of RJ’s classes that include Deep Dive Burgundy, Deep Dive Bordeaux and Deep Dive Barolo. Join us May 11 to unlock your palate with Advanced Sommelier Candidate RJ Judalena. Lastly, smell accounts for around 80% of tasting so for the evening please refrain from heavy perfumes and cosmetics. Cheers
