Description
On Saturday, June 24, 9 am - 2 pm, the 19th Annual Boulder Garden Tour will take guests through 9 unique, private gardens and homesteads in the historic University Hill neighborhood. Along the way, there will be community booths on topics related to sustainable gardening and yard care. Garden features will include vegetables, flowers, herbs, fruit trees, honey bees, native plants, sculpture gardens, natural gardens, water features, and lots of special settings and amazing views! Early bird tickets are $20. Children under 12 are free. Please print your ticket at home and bring it with you to check in and get your map of the tour. Check-in and bathrooms will be available at Flatirons Elementary School, 1150 7th St., Boulder. You can get your Garden Tour Guide with map and garden descriptions here or at The Academy University Hill. Check-in (but no bathrooms) will be available at The Academy University Hill, 970 Aurora Ave., Boulder. You can get your Garden Tour Guide with map and garden descriptions here or at Flatirons Elementary School. This is a self-guided tour and could be walked or biked in its entirety, which we highly encourage! However, please navigate the tour in whatever way meets your needs, abilities, and interests. The round trip distance is approximately 3 miles with 300 feet of elevation gain. If the distance or elevation gain is a concern, we suggest you attend with a friend, leave a car near Flatirons Elementary, and start the tour "at the top" near The Academy University Hill. If you plan to walk or bike the whole tour, you may want to start at Flatirons Elementary so that it will be all downhill back to the car at the end of the day. The event will take place rain or shine, and no refunds will be made. All proceeds will benefit the local nonprofit Garden to Table and school garden education for 5,000 elementary students in Boulder County. www.gardentotable.org The event’s beneficiary, Garden to Table, serves 200+ teachers and 5,000+ students at 15-20 schools each year. From north Boulder south to Broomfield, and from the foothills east to Lafayette, Garden to Table provides garden management, standards-based curriculum, teacher training, and volunteer support to schools so that all students can participate in experiential, garden-based learning every year.
