Tell us what brings you joy, what challenges you, and how you have been triumphant. I hope my work creates space, time, and attention for black and brown girls to see themselves as unapologetically themselves. Together we should continue to feel confident blooming and showing up as ourselves. Far too often there are not enough spaces and opportunities filled with girls who look and speak like us. I am also passionate about solving community issues through an intersectional feminist and womanist lens. As a first-generation student I am apply my creative and scholarly knowledge on and off campus to uplift my community. This expression comes through the medium of photography, digital art, videography, and art installations. What is your "why" as an artist? In other words, tell us why you do art. Why is your art important to you and what are your hopes? If not me, then who? If not us, then who? For me art is a form of imagination, social change, and to build beauty where it is not seen. If I do not create this art, then who will? Being first a generation student, artist, and social entrepreneur has taught me to express my voice and allow my art to be echo when I am no longer here. I have worked on both sides of activism and creativity to create conversations and change for the better of Detroit. Please describe your medium of art. What tools and materials do you use? Tell us a little about your process. My medium of art comes in photography, prints, fibers, and videography. What overall message or impact do you hope to inspire with these selected pieces? Vibrancy, gender and race minority empowerment, activism+art
