Description

JOIN US at The Upstate Table Saturday 5/6 for some creative fun, and meet other creatives, too. We'll be making pressed flower cookies with Patti Paige—artist, baker and the founder of Baked Ideas, a custom bakery in New York City! Patti will teach you how to use natural, plant-based colors including Supernatural natural dyes for coloring icing, how to artfully decorate cookies using a paint brush (NOT a piping bag!), and use pressed flowers to finish your cookies. You will leave with a gift box of 12-15 square decorated cookies. THE PERFECT MOTHER's DAY GIFT! In this workshop, Patti will teach you: -How to make royal icing using egg whites (and even aquafabba for a vegan version!) -How to color royal icing using natural colors such as freeze-dried fruits, plant-based Supernatural colors, and pantry items like turmeric and matcha powder -How to prevent common problems that can arise when working with royal icing -About sourcing and drying pressed flowers -How to apply the pressed flowers to cookies ABOUT PATTI: Paige, the owner of the custom bakery Baked Ideas, and author of You Can't Judge a Cookie by Its Cutter, has been called the “high priestess of decorated cookies” by Ina Garten. Trained as an artist, Paige makes all her own cookie cutters, including a line of 10 yoga pose cutters and cookies that were featured in O Magazine. Her cookies and cakes have filled the pages of Martha Stewart Weddings, Sweet Paul, New York Times, and Brides magazine, among others. A few of her many esteemed clients have included Tiffany and Co., The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Martha Stewart Living, and the White House’s infamous Egg Roll, featuring her intricately designed Easter cookies.
