Description
The Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS) and the Yale Postdoctoral Association (YPA) invite you for a day trip to New York City and the American Museum of Natural History on Saturday, May 6th! Join us to visit one of the world’s preeminent scientific and cultural institutions. The museum is renowned for its exhibitions and scientific collections, and a great alternative while the Peabody is under construction. You will have the opportunity to meet and spend time with your fellow international postdocs and ARSs.
We will meet at New Haven Union Station (50 Union Avenue) at 7:45am. We will take the Metro North train to Grand Central, where we will arrive around 10:15am. We will do a mini tour through Manhattan while we walk from Grand Central to the Natural History Museum - please note that this will take about 1 hour.
Once we arrive and check-in at the museum, you will be able to visit the museum at your pace and stay for as long as you would like! You are then free to explore NYC on your own or with new friends and then you can choose to return to New Haven on your own or with the group. The group will meet back at Grand Central at 6:40pm to catch a 7pm train to return to New Haven around 9:30pm.
Tickets are $8 per person + Eventbrite fees. The ticket price includes a discounted ticket to the Natural History museum but you are responsible for purchasing your own train ticket to NYC ($35.50) and any additional costs throughout the day (meals, subway, etc.).
Note: Tickets are limited, and registration is required. No refunds will be issued once tickets are purchased. This is an 18+ event open to adults only.
