The laughter is coming to Owego when Homebrewed Comedy hits the stage at the John Barleycorn on Wednesday, May 10. Bill Lake is headlining the show and Bill Russum and Mike Ciurzynski are joining host Mike Peters. The show starts at 7:30 p.m., and there's a recommended $5 donation at the door, which opens at 7. Come out and enjoy the show. About the comedians: Mike Peters, a Binghamton comedian, specializes in self-deprecating, observational humor. A contributor for Funny or Die, Peters is the founder of Homebrewed Comedy. He hosts at the Syracuse Funny Bone and Wise Crackers in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., won the Utica Brews Laugh Contest and Uptown Roast Battle and opened for Super Troopers’ Rabbit, Erik Stolhanske and Gilbert Gottfried. Peters produces shows all over New York and hosts his weekly podcasts, On the Mic with Mike Peters and It’s About Time: A Sopranos Watch Podcast. One of the brains behind the Binghamton Comedy Binge, Mike Ciurzynski combines a sharp wit, a punk rock attitude and three chords to please audiences wherever he goes. A founder of The Boho comedy club, Ciurzynski is everywhere the Comedy Binge is: The Binghamton Comedy Crawl, Virgil's at Tioga Downs, pop-up shows and in your hearts. He’s ready to unleash his middle-aged angst on anyone willing to listen. Bill Russum was one of the mainstays of the comedy scene in Lewisburg, Pa., before moving to Harrisburg. Russum has been able to combine a minor drinking problem with a major podcasting addiction. He hosts Oh, Yeah, Let’s Talk About and It’s About Time: A Sopranos Watch Podcast with Mike Peters. A musician and deejay, Russum is too busy for his own good, but is free enough to keep the beer fridge full. A former contributing writer for David Letterman and Craig Ferguson, Bill Lake is a host at the Syracuse Funny Bone, performed yearly at the Binghamton Comedy Crawl and is a founder of the Boho Comedy Club in Binghamton. He’s performed at the Salem Comedy Festival, the Rubber City Festival, the Asheville Comedy Festival, the Cape Fear Comedy Festival, the Plano Comedy Festival and North Carolina Comedy Festival. One of Binghamton’s strongest comedians, Lake uses his smart writing to entertain audiences all over the upstate area. He made the finals of Buffalo’s Funniest Person in 2021.
