Description
Get ready to blaze a trail in our 2023 ICP Conference. Inorganic Ventures will be hosting a small group of analysts at our headquarters in Christiansburg, VA September 12-14. Attendees will learn the ropes with extensive hands-on training within our laboratory. This course is perfect for relatively new ICP users, or those hoping to improve lab processes within their organizations. Over the course of three days, you will be immersed in all things related to ICP testing, including learning about contamination sources, making calibration curves, performing standard additions, preparing and running samples and running digestion and fusions. 3-Day Lab Schedule (subject to change) Tuesday, September 12 Introduction and familiarization with the lab space attendees will be working in during the training sessions.Review common sources of contamination (gloves, weigh boats, etc.) and demonstrate how to collect information for a leaching study. We will also review the process for leaching bottles, tip, tubes, etc. to safeguard against contamination.Prepare a custom calibration curve from single element standards by following the process used to manufacture Inorganic Ventures custom products. Attendees will run samples against this curve and collect data for analysis.Review the process of a standard addition testing. Attendees will perform a standard addition prep and run samples on the ICP-OES.Prepare Hg samples using various prep techniques and run samples on the ICP-OES.Perform data workup from the calibration curve and standard addition testing.Review the results from the Hg samples and the science behind why Hg can perform differently depending on sample prep. Daily Q&A session.Wednesday, September 13 Focus on Sample Prep - Attendees prepare various samples via three methods: Microwave Digestion, Acid Digestion, and Fusion.Attendees to complete sample prep on digested samples and run on ICP-OES using a robust method.Discuss and demonstrate internal standardization techniques. Attendees to spike digested samples with a range of internal standards.Attendees to reprepare digested samples to run at a much higher concentration of Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) to analyze low concentration analytes. Review Inorganic Venture’s Trace Metal Impurity (TMI) program and provide instrument tips & tricks when running high TDS samples.Perform data workup and review from digested samples.Review TMI data from a newly sourced starting material. Daily Q&A session.IV will host an evening social event!Thursday, September 14 Review of ICP-MS sample prep considerations (Distilled acids, bottle/tube types, etc.) and techniques (serial dilutions, lowering uncertainties, etc.)Attendees will prepare a mix of calibration standards and standard addition samples that will be set up to run on the ICP-MS. Preparing to run Brine on ICP-MS - Characterization of the matrix, preparing the rinse solution, conditioning the cones, and instrumentation tips & tricks. Attendees to prepare samples to run on a pre-constructed calibration curve. Demonstrate differences between instrument hardware capabilities.Spotlight on Cannabis testing - Walkthrough of standardized methods and attendees will prepare samples for analysis by ICP-MS. Data workup will be performed and reviewed for pass/fail conditions.Data workup of brine samples.Final Q&A Round Table.
