Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD): A Fireside Chat Presented by the City of RichardsonWe are excited to bring back the fireside chat in honor of Global Accessibility Awareness Day. This is a unique opportunity to learn from subject matter experts regarding digital accessibility. The City of Richardson will graciously provide light snacks and drinks to all attendees. Tickets are $10/each. Register Today! Meryl Evans, CPACCMeryl is a TEDx and professional speaker, trainer, author, and accessibility consultant who was born profoundly deaf. She is a highly regarded speaker on diversity, equity, and inclusion who focuses on people with disabilities and accessibility. She has spoken at many events including TEDx. She has appeared in many books, The Wall Street Journal, Morning Brew, AdWeek, AdAge, and The Dallas Morning News. Tiffani J. Martin, JancynCoTiffani Martin is an omni-channel digital executive, author, & CEO of JancynCo, VisioTech, and The MARC Investment Group in Dallas, Texas. Martin began her career as a digital strategist at Square 1 Agency after graduating from the University of North Texas. With over 15 years of experience in digital marketing, tech & accessibility, Martin has worked with some of the nation's top brands, developing their unique marketing identities, & thrusting them into a new realm of recognition. At the age of 27, Tiffani lost her sight from diabetic retinopathy, temporarily lost her ability to walk, and underwent dialysis for years before a life-saving kidney transplant from a friend. Since her recovery, Martin has thrust herself into advocacy affording her three proclamations from the City of DeSoto, Texas, and 2022 Executive Board Member of the Year from the North Texas Disability Chamber. Tiffani is the author of “Branding the Heart: A Guide to Digital Engagement for Non-Profit Organizations” and co-author of “Be prolific: Do Success Different”. She is happily married in Dallas to her husband Richard. Seda Maurer, Seda Maurer Consulting, LLCA Certified Professional of Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC) by the International Association of Accessibility Professionals (IAAP), Seda Maurer has been instrumental in strategizing and leading the Digital Accessibility Program for several corporations. Evolving from her extensive experience as a lead UX Designer of enterprise-level applications and eCommerce Websites, Seda advocates that Digital Accessibility benefits all stakeholders including the end-users. Seda has raised awareness and trained hundreds of people on various aspects of Digital Accessibility as a consultant in the corporate world, and through her public speaking engagements at the Big Design Conferences, Access U conferences, CSUN Assistive Technology Conference, UTD, and local UX user groups such as UXP, and Ladies the UX. Elisa MillerFor Elisa, it’s not just about solving problems, it’s about figuring out what problems need to be solved, particularly those that happen when humans interact with products and services. Her journey spans the breadth of the human experience landscape from information architecture to UX research, from Service design to Design Operations. A frequently requested speaker and community leader, she uses insight from a variety of industries to create a strategic lens on how understanding people leads to better products / services that customers want to use. For the last ten years, Elisa has increasingly turned her focus to accessibility and equitable and inclusive design, teaching workshops on conducting usability testing with people with disabilities to teaching an elective course on Accessibility and Inclusive Design for the SMU UX Certificate program in User Experience.
