The Sanctuary Series, a quarterly concert series housed in the beautiful and historic downtown sancturary of Central United Methodist Church of Asheville, will feature a diverse and exquisitely curated lineup of local and regional performers and will welcome in the greater community to celebrate live music for a great cause. The proceeds from each concert will benefit a nonprofit organization doing important local work. These concerts will be family-friendly (kids 12 and under will get in free,) and will be a beautiful way to connect with, invest in, enjoy and lift up your community. Sisters In Song, the kickoff concert for The Sanctuary Series on Thursday July 13th at 7 pm, will feature Grammy-nominated Sarah Siskind, Amanda Ann Platt (Of Amanda Ann Platt & The Honeycutters) and Jane Kramer in an intimate, in-the-round style performance of their original songs, stories and harmonies. Ticket sales will benefit Asheville nonprofit, Sistas Caring 4 Sistas Siskind, Platt and Kramer have heaps of songwriting acclaim, decades-long careers and thousands of miles toured between them. Each are mothers, full-time artists, pillars of the regional americana / folk music scene and masters of their craft. Their songs, and the delivery of them in each of their uniqe voices, take listeners on a poignant journey into the core of what it truly means to be human; the beauty, the humor and the ache. This is a first-time co-billing and collaboration for the trio, and their musical chemistry and complimentary voices are both memorable and magnetic. (See video below.) You won't want to miss this powerful evening of songs and stories. Sistas Caring 4 Sistas is "... a community-based doula program founded by women of color for women of color who could benefit from this evidence-based form of birth support. Our doulas work in partnerships dedicated towards healthy, equitable outcomes as part of a larger social justice movement that is committed to eliminating health disparities for birthing individuals, families and infants of color."
