Description
Join Access Institute and Joe Goode Performance Group at the inspiring St. Joseph’s Arts Society for an evening of movement, song, story, and connection where we grapple with the beauty, pain, and complexity of our shared human condition. Audience members will be invited to join in the creative process, to play and express together our unique and communal narratives. The evening will feature a preview of the new dance work, “As We Go,” which explores the journey of our bodies and how they hold and tell the stories of our lives, from pain and loss to growth and transformation. Following the performance, company founder and Artistic Director Joe Goode along with company members Damara Vita Ganley and Patricia West will join Access Institute Executive Director, Bart Magee, Ph.D., for a brief discussion delving deeper into the artistic process and consider psychological and cultural meanings. After that, audience members will be invited to participate in smaller group experiences including “Writing from the Body”, “Deepening Sensory Response” “Bodily Meditation and Self Care”. Please wear comfortable clothing. St. Joseph’s Arts Society is accessible for people with physical disabilities. This program can be made accessible for individuals with hearing impairment. If you would like to inquire about accommodations for hearing impairment please contact Aerin Attias [email protected] This is a community event open to all. Suggested donation is $25 - $75. No one will be turned away due to lack of funds. Saint Joseph's Arts Foundation & Access Institute jointly sponsor, Catalyst, a series of interactive community events where the arts and psychology come together to spark inspiration and connection. Bart Magee, PhD, Executive Director of Access Institute, facilitates conversations and experiences with leading artists, exploring the intersections between the arts, mental health, human development, and culture. With each of the quarterly events we explore how the creative process becomes the catalyst of personal growth and social transformation. Help support this and future Catalyst events by becoming a sponsor.
