Painted Turtle Family Walk
Let's celebrate Spring with an introduction to the restorative practice of Forest Bathing. This is a guided walk that will encourage you to use your imagination and senses to connect with nature. The walk will be led by a certified Forest Therapist and will include a series of invitations to explore the forest in your own unique way. The walk will end in a Forest Tea Party; I will serve allergy-sensitive cookies and offer caffeine-free tea.
Forest Bathing, or Shinrin-yoku, is a practice of connecting with nature through our senses - or “Bathing” our senses in the atmosphere of the Forest. It is more than just walking in the forest, this practice encourages participants to experience nature in an attentive and authentic way. Initially studied in Japan, research on the benefits of Forest Bathing is now global. There are many health benefits of this practice that include improved blood pressure, better sleep, and it can boost our immune system. Spending time in nature has also shown to reduce stress, improve mood, increase focus and creativity.
We will meet at the parking area for the visitors center. Please arrive 5-10 minutes early so that the walk can begin on time. Comfortable shoes for hiking and clothing that covers the legs and ankles are recommended. The walk is a slow pace and less than 1/2 mile. The Walk is 1.5 hours.
