National Foster Care Month is an initiative of the Children's Bureau. Each May, we take time to acknowledge foster parents, family members, volunteers, mentors, policymakers, child welfare professionals, and other members of the community who help children and youth in foster care find permanent homes and connections. Consequently, the vision of U-Nique Purpose, Inc. is to eliminate child abuse and neglect within families, communities, and different systems. Towards this end, this event is to acknowledge and celebrate National Foster Care Month, whilst granting focus on the effects of the foster care system upon Black families within DFW.
