Above is the (Picture of OMM Law Firm 1999 Avenue of the Stars #700, Los Angeles, CA 90067 ….) All things are not equal. We must recognize the inequalities in the distribution of funding among different groups of entrepreneurs in the United States. Specifically, African American entrepreneurs receive only 0.3% of funding, Hispanic entrepreneurs receive 0.6%, and women entrepreneurs receive 6%. These disparities are due to various factors, many of which fall under the category of Socially and Economically Disadvantaged Individuals (SEDI) as classified by the US government. To address these issues, Pitch Global, a company that focuses on supporting entrepreneurs including entrepreneurs from diverse communities, has taken steps to expand its support to these groups. They have observed a recent increase in the number of women founders presenting their companies and are taking action to further support these communities. As part of their efforts, Pitch Global is hosting the first roundtable on "Funding Diversity" during the Milken Conference in Beverly Hills. This event will provide an opportunity for industry leaders to discuss ways to address the funding disparities faced by underrepresented groups and to explore strategies to increase access to capital for these communities. Through these efforts, Pitch Global hopes to promote a more equitable and inclusive startup ecosystem that benefits all entrepreneurs regardless of their background or identity. Only 5 minutes walking distance away from the conference’s location (at the Beverly Hilton), will we be hosting at the office of O’Melveney & Meyers, our generous sponsors. O’Melveny & Meyers has a long history caring for Diversity and Inclusion and received the Diversity and Inclusion Award in 2022: O’Melveny Recognized for Innovation at Chambers Diversity & Inclusion Awards: North America 2022 (omm.com). Our event is opened up by Trish Halamandaris (Director, UCLA Anderson Venture Accelerator). We will present to the round table three initiatives aimed to level the playing field, and also offer a few select companies to present their initiatives. Pitch Global has long been recognized by the California government and its agencies, and some of its activities as funded by them through the NorCal SBDC. They director states: “Pitch Global is fast becoming the Leading platform for entrepreneurs to present to Corporate Venture Capitalist (CVC’s), VC’s, and Family Offices. They provide exposure to equity funding opportunities for early-stage entrepreneurs and scaling companies that have gone on to eventually raise billions. Founder Kaustav Chaudhuri (KC) and Co-Founder Axel Tillmann have the expertise, leadership and relationships, to host the Bay Area’s most prestigious CVC’s conferences.” We come from a background of Angel and VC Funds but during the pandemic, we have evolved to working with CVC’s as well. Watch video from one of our recent CVC Leadership Conferences which begins with the interview of CVC Head of Korea’s SK Group where he talks about their commitment to President Biden of investing $ 59 B.
