LECTURE DESCRIPTION: NEVADA GHOST TOWNS & MINING CAMPS: A compilation of 670 ghost towns and 710 old pictures which show the towns, the mines, and the silver mills in their heyday. It has won many awards. It is Nevada's all-time best-selling history book. Since its publication in 1970 has sold 68,800 copies. SPEAKER BIO: Native Nevadan Stanley Paher is the owner of Nevada Publications which in 51 years has published 114 books by 53 different authors. Ever since his years at Las Vegas High School, he has explored desert areas throughout the Southwest through hiking, jeeping and camping. In 1982 he moved permanently to Reno in an effort to retire but admits he has not done a very good job of it. Currently, he continues to publish books and search for paper items including stock certificates, "dead" post office cancellations, and out-of-print Nevada books.
