Description

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a highly effective approach developed by Dr. Marsha M. Linehan for use with individuals with complex diagnoses (borderline/ multiple personality disorder), who experienced pervasive emotional dysregulation. More recent research indicates that, although this approach was originally developed for a specific diagnostic group, it is effective for many people, including those struggling with substance use disorders, eating disorders and any circumstances where emotional dysregulation is one of the primary presenting challenges for an individual. Attendees will leave the training understanding the basic DBT theory and its components, and will have an understanding of what types of individuals are best suited for this approach. Attendees will gain an understanding of how to utilize chain link analysis in their day to day work and will be able to describe the function of validation strategies and other basic DBT tools. A certificate of completion will be provided to all participants that complete the session. The certificate can be used to apply for CEUs for various disciples such as social work, peer certification and more.
