Description

Portland-based, women-led design companies Lonesome Pictopia and Tempest Tileworks are delighted to announce the launch of a brand-new collaborative line of handmade decorative tile!! We’re hosting a launch event at Tempest Tileworks to celebrate the collaboration, and invite the public to join us! The event is free and all are welcome. The inaugural Lonesome Pictopia x Tempest Tileworks tile line features designs by artists Melanie Catherine Nead and Sierra Gotelli. Light refreshments will be provided, and there will be wine on tap from Coopers Hall. About Tempest: Tempest Tileworks, a handmade tile manufacturer, has been producing their exceptional, design forward yet approachable tiles since 2006. Each tile is made with care using varying techniques. The collection speaks to a wide range of aesthetics; be it modern, traditional, minimalist, or maximalist. Through art and craft, they have found harmony working with earth, air, water and fire to create a unique collection of handmade tiles. Their signature tapestry tiles, inspired by textile and wallpaper patterns of past and present, use traditional silk screening methods and bespoke glazes. About Lonesome Pictopia: Rooted in American tattooing, the wild spaces of the Pacific Northwest, and the belief that all work should be a force for good, Lonesome Pictopia is a woman-owned design collective creating magical worlds with our original wallpapers, textiles, and murals. After fifteen years as a custom tattoo artist, LP founder Melanie Nead turned her love of plants and pattern to creating one-of-a-kind, hand-painted murals, with an eye on releasing a house line in the spirit of historic wallcoverings. After years of work and development, we are so proud of our deeply designed wallpapers, traditionally printed in the UK by a sustainable manufacturer of some of the finest wallpapers in the world. Wallpaper sales support our mission of giving back to the community through partnerships with nonprofits working to fight housing insecurity in Portland and beyond.
