Nourishing Local Connections: A Forum for Food Security Collaboration
Greetings,
In the spirit of collaboration, connection, and free access to information, Seattle Good Business Network, Cascadia Produce, and United Way of King County, in partnership with the Food Justice Collaborative, invite you to attend our free networking and education forum at Harbor Foods in Kent, WA on Wednesday, May 10, from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm.
Our local food system is like a braided river with many channels overlapping, intersecting, and forging new pathways with their combined strength. Through key collaborations and partnerships, we can reshape the bank of Washington food insecurity and reach more people in need with nutritious, culturally-relevant supplemental food that reduces food waste and supports local agriculture.
The agenda for this event will feature:
Local Purchasing Panel: Hear from farmers, food-hubs, produce aggregators, co-ops, and wholesalers about the many ways an organization can find and purchase food from local producers. Rapid sharing presentations from non-profits working in WA food security including their superpowers and bottlenecks.Information sessions on topics relating to grant applications, food recovery, and upcoming funding opportunities. Free, unstructured time to network and connect with one-another. Delicious lunch from local chefs.DETAILS
