WELCOME BACK After more than a two-year hiatus- due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the highly anticipated California State University Cinema and Television Arts Northridge (CSUN) Senior Film Showcase is back for its 31st production. The night's festivities are scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 3rd. Our viewing will be held in the beautiful Samuel Goldwyn Theatre inside the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences building, 8949 Wilshire Blvd. in Beverly Hills, 90211. Doors to the theatre open at 6:30 p.m. * Please be mindful when consulting your navigation. Our venue is at AMPAS in Beverly Hills NOT at the Academy Museum. Parking information located at the bottom of this invitation. VIP tickets available April 17th, 12pm PST. Filmmakers April 20th, 12pm PST. General Admission tickets available April 24, 12pm PST. THE MAIN EVENT Our host for the evening will be legendary director, writer, and producer Randal Kleiser. Mr. Kleiser is best known for his blockbuster films such as "Grease," starring Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta; "The Blue Lagoon," starring Brooke Shields; Summer Lovers," starring Peter Gallagher and Daryl Hannah; Disney's "Flight of the Navigator;" "Grandview;" "White Fang" starring Ethan Hawke; and "Honey, I Blew Up the Kid" starring Rick Moranis and Lloyd Bridges, just to name a few. We are honored to have him with us. We will be showing a retrospective of his work. The five short films being showcased are: • “El Halcón,” directed by Arlene Torres. Set in the bustling streets of Boyle Heights, the story follows Fernando De La Cruz, an ex-gang member and aspiring tattoo artist, as he trys to turn his life around and help his immigrant mother return to the United States. 15 min. https://bit.ly/El_Halcon_Trailer • “Ruby’s Dad,” directed by David Tschan. When he learns the whereabouts of his late father’s favorite baseball player, Stanley tries to sneak into an upscale hotel with his daughter, Ruby, to get an autograph. 15 min. https://bit.ly/Rubys_Dad_Trailer • “Un Día Más, Un Día Menos,” directed by Audrey Saca. With no job to provide for his family, a father must leave his son, Leo, with relatives while he looks for work. There is also metered parking along Wilshire Blvd beginning at 7pm. The surrounding neighborhood is permit parking only and will ticket and tow.
