Whether you are an amateur or expert naturalist, Norman Bird Sanctuary’s course ‘Name that Plant’ will enable you to identify Rhode Island’s wildflowers, flowering shrubs, vines, and trees with confidence. Students will master the skill of using field guides to correctly identify live specimen. Under the mentorship of staff naturalists and gardeners, students will also engage in plant identification practice within the diverse habitats at Norman Bird Sanctuary. Session 2: During our July session, students will focus on the identification of wildflowers, flowering shrubs and vines using Newcomb’s Wildflower Guide. Join us for Session 3 on August 17. Session 3: Our final session in Name that Plant will focus on dendrology. Students will practice their identification skills throughout the diverse habitats of Norman Bird Sanctuary while exploring varied species of trees. FAQ: Free parking will be available in the main lot at the Norman Bird Sanctuary. This event will be held in Mabel's Studio. Inclement weather policy: This event will be cancelled in unsafe weather conditions. In the case of cancellation, refunds will be issued through Eventbrite. There is no rain/snow date. Refund policy: Tickets cannot be refunded or exchanged. If the event is cancelled due to inclement weather, tickets will be refunded through Eventbrite.
