Description

This training walks teachers of students with significant cognitive disabilities how to establish a center based classroom environment which operates with individual student schedules. This foundation allows teachers to teach students who are functioning on multiple different functioning and grade levels. In addition, it provides a foundation for students to understand where they should be, what they should be doing, and for how long they should be doing it. This is especially important for the management of the classroom when serving non-verbal students, students with restrictive repetitive rituals and routines, students who are still learning basic foundations of reading and how to follow one step commands. In addition, the system builds low tech assistive technology integration to support and build communication skills, increase compliance, and develop in seat on task behavior and an understanding of task completion. This structure is necessary to support other therapies such as ABA and PECS.
