Do you favor rustic landmarks, or are you a fan of Mid-Century Modern? Either way, we’ve got you covered on our May 6 Logs to Lustrons tour, featuring log structures of early settlement days, frame homes from the Victorian period, and mid-century homes of glass, stucco, and metal. Indiana Landmarks and the Indiana Dunes National Park (IDNP) team up to present 16 sites spanning a century of architecture, including restored residences not normally open to the public and vacant landmarks in need of a new use. Seven interiors will be open for touring. For an even deeper insight, an EVENING LECTURE on Friday, May 5, highlights the architecture and history of the National Park. You’ll find the details and info on overnight accommodations HERE. Tour shuttles will depart from the Indiana Dunes National Park Visitor Center at each ticket time, and tour groups will stay with the same bus and tour group throughout the 3-hour tour. Park rangers will provide overviews of tour locations as participants travel from site to site, with tour groups stopping at each location that is open for interior viewing. Children who join the tour (with parent or guardian) can earn a Junior Ranger badge by picking up a workbook, program, and a bag with a sketchbook and pencil when they check-in at the Visitor Center. At the end of the tour, they show the completed workbook to a Park Ranger on the bus or visitor center to earn a badge. Children under 16 are welcome to attend the tour for free but will still need to reserve a ticket. Choose your timed entry ticket and departure time: slots available every 30 minutes beginning at 9:00 a.m. with the last tour departing at 1 p.m., Central Time. The tour lasts approximately three hours. Commemorative Logs to Lustrons t-shirts are also available to purchase for $15 in advance and must be ordered by April 10 and may be picked up at the Beverly Shores Depot Museum and Art Gallery, stop #3 on the tour.
