United Way of Capital Area is looking for youth to take “a day on, not a day off,” by providing a few volunteer opportunties. United Way of Capital Area is keeping Martin Luther King, Jr Dream Alive by partcipating in MLK Day of Service. UWCA is providing a few volunteer opportunities for high school or college students. Each year, Mississippi national service programs and volunteer centers engage children and community members in service projects, parades, prayer breakfasts, and learning and discussion sessions about the legacy and life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. ABOUT MLK DAY OF SERVICE The Martin Luther King Jr. holiday on Jan. 18, 2021, is the 26th anniversary of the day of service that celebrates the Civil Rights leader’s life and legacy. Observed each year on the third Monday in January as “a day on, not a day off,” MLK Day is the only federal holiday designated as a national day of service to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities.
