MANCHESTER, CT — National Pizza Week kicked off Sunday, and Patch editors in Hartford and Tolland counties asked readers to name their go-to spots for pizza in their towns. Before we get to the results, here are a few pizza facts you may not have known. In a recent survey of 1,000 people, 98 percent said they like pizza. 43 percent said pizza is their favorite fast food, ranking second behind hamburgers.Each day, Americans eat 100 acres of pizza, which averages to 350 slices per second.Saturday night is the most popular day of the week for eating pizza.Super Bowl Sunday is the biggest day for pizza sales.
