Guns are present in almost half of American homes, and children as young as three possess the finger strength to pull a trigger! These are important reasons why children should begin learning about gun safety. Even children in gun free homes, children may come into contact with guns through friends, neighbors, and relatives. This is an introduction to safe firearms handling that outlines what to do when you find a firearm or their friend is playing with one, how to safety resolve situations involving firearms, and finally how to operate and safely shoot a 22 caliber rifle. While this class does involve shooting, it is more focused on safety and situational awareness with firearms than it is a shooting course. Course Objectives: -Instruct what they should do if they see a gun; who to contact, what to do. -Teach them proper gun safety, how to check both a revolver and semiautomatic to make sure it is safe. -Learn to load, unload and clear both a revolver and semiautomatic.
