Menachem Mendel Morgenstern, more commonly known as the Kotzker Rebbe, is perhaps the most widely misunderstood and tragic Chasidic figures in Jewish history. Known for his radical reinterpretation of the Baal Shem Tov’s theology and reclusive lifestyle, the Kotzker reluctantly inspired a new generation of Polish Chasidism.
