May is Women's Health Month. Heart disease is the number one killer of women each year. Yet, many women do not understand their risk or realize how heart disease looks and feels different in women. Cardiovascular Institute of the South understands the importance of awareness, prevention and education for women and heart disease. Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS) is hosting a free vascular screening on Monday, May 22nd from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at 191 Innovation Court (Suite A) in Gray. Get your legs ready for summer with our vein screening! Guests will receive a complimentary ankle brachial index (ABI) screenings & thermal imaging screenings. An ABI simple, painless exam is used to test the blood flow in the legs to determine risk of vascular disease. A thermal imaging scan uses new technology that can detect venous insufficiency. Results will be reviewed on site by CIS providers. Risk factors of vascular disease include family history, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetes, as well as smoking, being overweight or being inactive. Space is limited.
