Description

Community Meal at 6 p.m. and the program starts at 7 p.m. Art Therapy is a professional discipline that approaches art base on the work of psychoanalysis. As Dr. Anna Renee Hiscox grew in her experience working with clients, she realized that the language she was using did not necessarily help them. Tonight Rev. Deborah Phillips sits down with Dr. Hiscox to learn how, as she became her more authentic self, she changed her practice into one that creates a sacred space where clients can safely and effectively be comforted and healed. Dr. Anna Renee Hiscox's Bio: Anna graduated from Mt. Mary University in Milwaukee, WI, receiving her Doctorate in Art Therapy. She attended Notre Dame de Muir University in Belmont, CA, where she obtained master’s degrees in Marriage and Family Therapy and Art Therapy. Dr. Hiscox has worked with children, adolescents, and families in the mental health profession for over 20 years. Her career as a licensed clinician and art therapist includes working in the California prison system, hospitals, and private practice. Dr. Hiscox has worked as a professor at several universities and has supervised art therapy students in preparation for the art therapy credentials board examination. Anna is the author of several children's books and contributor to articles in Art Therapy, the American Art Therapy Association magazine.
