Description

Our Art in the Garden Series continues with acrylics. NHG proudly welcomes professional artist and popular teacher Melanie Brannan, whose series of acrylic workshops feature a different inspirational piece of art each time that you'll reproduce. In this series, you'll have the opportunity to learn about new colors and techniques in each class you attend. Purchase a glass of wine from our next-door Cafe, sit down, and create with us in this fun workshop! Create a contemporary, mixed-media piece with beautiful anemones- the subject for our April class. We will build up our background with several layers using Golden Acrylics. With tracing paper and matte medium, we will replicate the tissue-like feeling of the petals. Then with brayers and gold metallic, we'll add yet another layer. After we paint our flowers, we will embellish with red Interference and Micaceous Oxide. At the end of class, participants will walk away a bit more relaxed, and take home a finished 11 x 14 canvas. $85. All supplies are included. All levels of experience are welcome, from beginners to advanced. In order to have the best in one-on-one instruction, our workshop is limited to 21 attendees. Please arrive by 1:00pm, so you can purchase your wine and snacks in our cafe and get seated. The class begins promptly at 1:30pm. Watch for additional Art in the Garden Workshops, coming soon to NHG! Melanie Montgomery Brannan lives in her paintings, moving around and getting lost in a serene place. With her creative talent, she captures emotions on canvas as her paintings evolve through her own personal perspective. Influenced by light, clouds and reflections, she uses layers upon layers to create a great deal of depth and movement. Colors and perception beautifully touch her work. Melanie paints with her heart as much as her brush. Her favorite style of art is impressionism, with Cezanne and Van Gogh among her favorite artists. Her paintings are in homes in the Texas, New Mexico, California, Alaska, Oregon, South Dakota, South Carolina, Ireland and Germany. Melanie moved to fine art and teaching after a long, prolific career in graphic design owning her own firm for 30 years. She has devoted collectors across the country. Melanie has painted exclusively with GOLDEN Artists Colors for 10 years. In 2017, GOLDEN trained her to become a certified educator for their amazing line of paints, pastes and gels. She joined this elite group of international artists to become the Dallas educator for GOLDEN.
