This event will feature keynote speaker, Monica Das, and panelists, Gowdham Rajan and Teresa Rachel Scheller. Monica Das is an academic, author, feminist economist, and filmmaker. She is an active member of the International Association for Feminist Economics (IAFFE) and is the granddaughter of legendary author and social activist, Fakir Mohan Senapati, based on whose works she has produced a series of docu-dramas that were featured on India’s Doordarshan television. She is the author of several fiction and non-fiction works including Her Story So Far: Tales of the Girl Child in India and Other Works (check it out -http://www.amazon.com/Her-Story-So-Far-Tales/dp/0143030426). Gowdham Rajan is an IT Executive and the San Antonio lead for Cry America. He is also heavily involved in the local South Asian community as the Ex-President of IASA and the Tamil Association; he is currently the Secretary of the Asian Alliance of San Antonio. Teresa Rachel Scheller is the Director of Legal Services for Family Violence Prevention Services, Inc., which provides family legal services to residents of the Battered Women's and Children's Shelters in Bexar and surrounding counties. This event will take place at: Room BB 2.06.04, Carlos Alvarez College of Business, University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), 1 UTSA Circle, San Antonio, TX 78249 *Free open-air parking by Alvarez College of Business building. Awaaz San Antonio is a local nonprofit organization that supports victims of family and intimate partner violence in San Antonio and South Texas.
