Most of the locations on the tour were originally built between1890-1930, and characteristics include: beamed interior ceilings, colonnades, pocket doors, antique hardware, prominent wide front porches, overhanging eaves, as well as exposed rafters and beams —to name a few. Attendees will also enjoy a neighborhood parade through the Fairmount neighborhood to kick off the event at 10 a.m. Saturday. On Saturday only from Noon-4 p.m. Fairmount Park will host a family and pet-friendly neighborhood fair. This special event will feature music by local artists, activities for kids, food trucks, demonstrations by artists, the community garden, and the Yogi squad. Whether you spend a full day Saturday enjoying all the home tour events, or you spread out your experience throughout the weekend, Fairmount’s Tour of Historic Homes has something for everyone, and is a great gift for mom, too! $20 for tickets purchased in advance at www.historicfairmount.com; or $25 for tickets purchased on the day-of at the Welcome Pavilion.
