Please note that this is a small group event so PLEASE RSVP THOUGHTFULLY. We plan on leading an 11 person expedition, 4 of whom can stay in the shelter and 5 will need to bring or share tents. Join us for a Queer Scouts backpacking trip to Tully Lake in Royalston, MA led by Katie and Giuliana! Katie (she/they) and Giuliana (she/her) started backpacking in 2020 to escape into nature during the COVID lockdown. Since then, they've backpacked throughout the White Mountains in NH and did a rim-to-rim hike in the Grand Canyon! They're excited to share their backpacking tips and tricks through this group backpacking adventure! This out-and-back trip is geared toward experienced hikers that would like to try backpacking! We will be walking about 8 miles each day (16 miles total), and we plan on staying overnight at the Falls Brook Shelter. The shelter has 2 bunk beds and a loft area. There is additional space for camping in tents in the area around the shelter for those that have the gear! Please note that this is a small group event so PLEASE RSVP THOUGHTFULLY. We plan on leading an 11 person expedition, 4 of whom can stay in the shelter and 5 will need to bring or share tents. The shelter is not reservable and is open to the public, so we may need to get cozy and share the space with others outside of our party. We will filter water from Tully River and Falls Brook, but bring several liters as well!
