Walker Road + Pickers Anonymous Friday, May 12th $10 Pre-Sale Tickets | $15 Day of Show Doors at 5pm | Music at 8pm *no cover until 7pm* WALKER ROAD (Country, Old-Time Blues Fusion) Walker Road is the coming-together of four highly seasoned musicians with diverse backgrounds. They create a unique sound with an emphasis on strong vocals, tight rhythms, and a broad repertoire. World-class vocalist Laura Walker plays her powerful voice like an orchestra. Her solid bass playing provides the foundation for the group. Mike Orlin, on guitar, is the group's primary songwriter and vocalist, and a long-time veteran of the Atlanta music scene. Eddie Gwaltney sings, writes songs, tickles the keys, plays banjo, acoustic guitar and accordion to round out the group. Add Atlanta-based percussionist John Lewis and it starts to cook! Combined they share a background that encompasses everything from jazz, rhythm and blues, country, rock, American folk and blues traditions. Together, they offer a wide repertoire composed of original material, familiar nuggets from the worlds of rock and country music, and a bit of jazz and old-timey blues. PICKERS ANONYMOUS (Old Time Bluegrass/Folk Duo) The newly formed Pickers Anonymous is composed of local folkies John Benjamin Davis (Mandolin, Banjo, Guitar, Fiddle, Vocals) as well as Nicholas Edward Williams (Guitar, Banjo, Harmonica, Vocals). The two collect old traditional material and present it with their own eclectic filter, harkening back to the days of famous mountain duos such as The Monroe Brothers, The Delmore Brothers, and the Everly Brothers. With high lonesome harmonies and intricate interplay between instruments, Pickers Anonymous simultaneously ease and stimulate with the wide variety of material including Bluegrass, Old-Time, Traditional and Contemporary Folk, and an assortment of pre-war Blues.
