Description

Watch the video to learn more about the class! The Cyanotype is a 170 year old photographic printing process that produces prints in a distinctive, rich, dark blue color. The word cyan comes from the Greek, meaning “dark blue substance.” This workshop will walk you through mixing up the cyanotype chemicals, coating your paper, and exposing your art to light to create stunning, unique patterns. There are really no limit to the creativity of this process! Each piece created is truly a unique work of art all your own. The workshop is taught by Melinda Reddehase, a seasoned, nationally recognized, and award-wining professional photographer with multiple degrees in photography. Don't worry! Not a SINGLE BIT of prior knowledge of photography is required to take this class. But, it always helps when the teacher has a lot of useless background knowledge and can help answer any questions you might have. OTHER DETAILS: Since chemicals are involved, this class is best for ages 12 and up. (All supplies will be furnished! To make your art 100% your own, bring a variety of objects to use in your art. Objects such as fresh leaves, flowers, grasses, etc... are perfect! Dried/ pressed flowers work very well! If you have questions about what would be best to bring just contact Melinda at [email protected]. The class will last approximately three hours and you'll walk away with 3-4 beautiful hand-created works of art!
