With a new park design being implemented at the John Steinbeck Waterfront Park, new docks being installed on Long Wharf, and continued environmental concerns at Havens Beach, residents of Sag Harbor may soon be faced with major changes to their public spaces in the years ahead. In a village that also includes Mashashimuet Park, which is privately controlled, but very much open to the public, Marine Park and Cilli Farm, Sag Harbor has a number of public spaces and parklands to enjoy. How should these places evolve? And what kind of planning tools can the village use to encourage public use while also protecting the environment?
