Description

Utah has consistently higher rates of depression than the national rate. Yet, we often feel as though we are alone in our struggles, minimize them, or try to ignore them. In his book, The Body Keeps the Score, Bessel van der Kolk wrote: “Language gives us the power to change ourselves and others by communicating our experiences, helping us to define what we know and find a common sense of meaning.” Let’s create common meaning around mental health together! Join us on May 11 at 7pm for a community conversation on Mental Health. We’ll start off by hearing from leaders across different sectors in our community, and then shift to small table Living Room Conversations of 4-6 people to experience and practice listening and being heard. We recognize Mental Health is a sensitive topic, we hope you will share the impact mental health has had on you, the community, and your loved ones but you are not expected to share personal details. We'll also have several direct service providers sharing information so you, or those you care about can get connected to needed services. This is a chance to meet new people, learn about each other, and contribute your own voice and story to the narrative of mental health in Provo.
