If you've ever wanted to try birding, this hike is for you! National Park Ranger, Kip Walton, will be leading this free hike through Miller Woods. We will meet at the Douglas Center and start out with a brief chat about the birds we may find. It will be the peak of spring migration and we're bound to find tons of birds! This hike is free and open to the public, with registration preferred.
Binoculars will be available to borrow and we will also have small field guides available to help you identify all those birds.
After our hike, make sure to catch the shuttle bus to the festival’s Youth & Family Day in the State Park for extra activities and hikes! Kids crafts, vendor booths, bird house buildingin and more are taking place. The shuttle bus will run from 10am-4pm back-and-forth between the Douglas Center and State Park Nature Center. You do not need to participate in this hike to hop on the shuttle bus. State park entrance is free for anyone on the shuttle bus. The last shuttle leaves the Nature Center at 4:15pm.
This trip and shuttle bus are sponsored by the Flora Richardson Foundation.
