The event will discuss the current state of segregated healthcare at Columbia-NYP and seek to explore current work and future directions toward desegregation here; Dr. Dugdale's remarks and Dr. Fullilove's talk will provide us with an ethics lens and historical context, respectively, with which to contemplate these issues. Panelists will introduce themselves and their connection to this work at Columbia-NYP and will respond to questions prepared by the event planners and posed by audience members. The lecture and panelist portion of our afternoon will be from 1-3pm in VEC 201, followed by a reception in VEC 401. Speakers/Moderators/Panelists & their titles: Dr. Lydia Dugdale, MD, MAR (ethics) is the Dorothy L. and Daniel H. Silberberg Associate Professor of Medicine, Director of the Center for Clinical Medical Ethics, Associate Director of Clinical Ethics at NYP/CUIMC Dr. Robert Fullilove, MS, EdD is a Professor of Sociomedical Sciences (in Social Work) at CUIMC, Adjunct Full Professor at Teachers College, Associate Dean of Community and Minority Affairs at the Mailman School of Public Health Dr. Jean Emond, MD is the Thomas S. Zimmer Professor of Surgery, Vice Chairman of Surgery, and Chief of the Transplantation Services at Columbia University Dr. Fleck, MD, MPH is the Chief Medical Officer of the Ambulatory Care Network Dr. Jean-Marie Alves-Bradford, MD is a Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry, Director of the Washington Heights Community Service (WHCS) Dr. Richard Mayeux, MD, MSc is the Gertrude H. Sergievsky Professor of Neurology, Psychiatry and Epidemiology, Chair of the Department of Neurology at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, and Neurologist-in-Chief at NYP/CUIMC Non-CUID/NYP holders must bring proof of vaccination to be checked at the door.
