Come Join Your Local Veterans for a cleanup for Earth Day 2023!Recycle For Veterans x The San Diego River Foundation collaborative eventMust be 16 years or older to attend.Due to unpredictable terrain and route changes within the river, the address of the meetup point will be displayed within 48 hours of the date of the cleanup. We will supply bags, gloves, buckets, grabbers, and hand sanitizer.  Please take a look at our Gear List below to ensure you are properly prepared and equipped. We strongly discourage the use of any single-use plastic at our cleanups. Google: Mast Park West Meeting Location Apple: Mast Park West Meeting Location   Schedule & What To Expect:8:45am - 9:00am | Check-In & Morning Brief We will all gather by the designated meet-up point to go over all the information and route details before we kick-off. We will be handing out the buckets and bags as well.   9:00am - 11:50am | Service The AreaWe will kick off the cleanup by following the designated route and servicing the area for trash, recyclables, and debris. (Around 1-3 miles of rough terrain) 11:50am - 12:00pm | Education Brief & Closing RemarksAfter the trash has been collected, our Team and partners will close out the event by educating the volunteers on conservation, sustainability, environmentalism, and how your impact makes a difference.   Important NotesFor all of our Active Duty who need an L.O.A. or our volunteers who need community service hours, during your registration be sure to answer “Yes” when asked. *Please arrive on time so you are able to kick off with our group and enjoy the full experience  *Once you arrive- check-in at the EZ-Up in order to receive your pair of gloves and equipment *YOU MUST BE 16+ YEARS OLD TO VOLUNTEER - UNDER 18 MUST HAVE PARENT/GUARDIAN PRESENT TO SIGN LIABILITY WAIVER *Be on the look-out for an EZ-up with Recycle For Veterans Logo on it *We do not recruit for the military or their affairs. *L.O.A’s & Community Service hours will be sent within 7 business days after the event Please plan to arrive 15 minutes early in order to get checked in. Our group will leave the meeting area roughly 5 minutes after the event starts to go to the project site. Be sure to dress in clothes that can get a little dirty--long pants are REQUIRED. A hat, sunscreen, or any other types of sun protection are also recommended for all of our outdoor events. Closed-toe shoes are required. No sandals, Tom's or other flats. You must wear sturdy tennis or hiking shoes. In order to cut down on single-use plastics, we request all volunteers bring their own reusable water bottle. You may wish to bring a light snack. We will provide all tools and supplies for you to use. For safety reasons, no pets are allowed at this event. A liability waiver is required for all volunteers and will be provided at the event.
