Description

"It is imperative to open up the conversation around mental health and host walks like AFSP's Out of the Darkness Walk to show that there is hope, and that we will continue to walk to support those who have lost loves ones to suicide. Creating a community of care and showing that we support one another goes such a long way." - Graduate Student, WI "I have lost classmates and multiple other community members to suicide, as well as battled with my own bouts of depression, suicidal actions, and attempts. I believe that if everyone worked together and supported each other to the best of their abilities, suicide rates would rapidly decline. Suicide is stoppable. We all have the power to be that wall of help between someone and their darkness." - High School Student, GA "We can lead by example, show others that there is hope. We can be the voice by first listening and being the shoulder to cry on and then sharing resources and telling someone that you or a loved one needs help. There is no shame in asking for help." - Alumni, MO The mission of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is to save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide. This walk will be hosted at Paradise Valley Community College on April 29th from 8:30 am-12:00 pm. For additional questions, please email [email protected]
