The Green's Ladies Invitational presented by The Green's Ladies Golf Club will be held Sunday, May 28, 2023 at Walnut Lane Golf Club. The Green's Ladies invite all golfers in the Greater Philadelphia region and beyond to play in this inaugural invitational as part of your Memorial Day Weekend festivities! The tournament serves as the club's fundraiser and membership drive, with a portion of the proceeds going to The First Tee-Greater Philadelphia Chapter's programming needs. The golf course opened for play in 1940 and is highlighted by several challenging par 3’s. The unique layout features several holes that are cleverly tucked away in hills and valleys. This gem of a course is as scenic as it is challenging and is the ideal shot-makers golf course. History of The Green's Ladies Golf Club The Green’s Ladies Club, Inc. was organized May 1, 1954 in Philadelphia, PA by Lorraine Sawyer. Mrs. Sawyer envisioned that Black women could partake of the experiences on the golf links. She saw that there was a need for Black women to have a club that could nurture their interest in golf. On May 1, 1954, she convened with seven other women at 160 N. Sandford Street Philadelphia, PA, where they laid the foundation for the Green’s Ladies Golf Club. The first tournament hosted by the Green’s Ladies was held in 1955.
