Garden Paintbrush and Book Making with LaKesha Lee

Artist LaKesha Lee will be guiding us in making our own paintbrushes from scratch using materials found in the Studio By The Tracks Art Garden. We will use our brushes to paint LaKesha's handmade paper with black walnut ink, learning about the process of the harvesting the natural pigment from the fruit of the native black walnut tree. LaKesha will teach us how to make a book from our paper. Participants will get to take home some of LaKesha's black walnut ink to use for their own. All supplies will be provided. This workshop is appropriate for ages 12+ and requires hand dexterity. We have a limited capacity, so if for any reason you cannot attend after registering, please contact [email protected] as soon as possible so that we can offer your seat to someone on our waitlist. If the workshop is full, it will not allow you to register, but you can email [email protected] to get on our wait list. This is a free event that is possible with support from the Alabama Arts Council's "Support The Arts" Tag Committee. You are not expected to pay to attend, although we graciously accept donations to our Studio, which helps sustain our programming at Studio By The Tracks.
